Courchevel

The favourite hangout of the Paris jet-set, Courchevel is a popular resort boasting some of the top hotels and chalets in the Alps.  The largest of the valleys, visitors here have access to the whole of the Three Valleys - the largest ski area in the world

Courchevel consists of several different villages, each with different character.  Courchevel 1850 is the most well known, and the most exclusive.  Courchevel 1650 is a collection of square buildings but it does have more of a village atmosphere than first appears.  Courchevel 1550 is lower, quieter and better for families while Courchevel 1300 Le Praz is still a pretty, traditional village built around a lake whose centrepiece is the Olympic ski jump.

The slopes are good for all levels of skiers - the resort has excellent piste maintenance and and the pistes are generally much easier than comparable grades in other nearby resorts.  Wide, motorway pistes for the cruising intermediate skier with some challenging off-piste areas and couloirs for the experts and some excellent places for near beginners.

For nightlife, the best place to be is 1850 which has the best bars and clubs of the resort.  The other villages are quieter (and much cheaper!!).
