Resort Information La Plagne |
| |
La Plagne is part of the Paradiski area, which together with Les Arcs, offers a huge variety of pistes, environment and terrains to suit all needs. It is an excellent intermediate resort with 85% of the pistes being blue or red but also has some good nursery slopes for beginners and some extensive off-piste areas for experts. La Plagne consists of 10 interlinked villages spread over several sides of a mountain - the central more purpose built areas of Plagne Centre, Plagne Villages, Aime 2000 and Plagne Soleil being offset against the beautiful traditional villages of Montalbert, Montachavin, Les Coches and Champagny. Just below the main central area is Plagne 1800 and just above is Belle Plagne. All the villages are linked by a variety of pistes and terrains with an extensive snow-canon network to guarantee good conditions, even in the worst years. Lift systems have been steadily upgraded and there are now several gondolas and many high speed chair lifts to carry you up as far as the glacier at 3250m.
The altitude villages guarantee door-step skiing but lack the character and ambience of a village resorts - the traditional villages have both, although you may have a few minutes longer on a lift to reach the central area, it's well worth it. For example, our catered chalet in Montalbert gives you luxury accommodation, a village with character and access to the whole Paradiski area. There are pistes for all standards with easy greens (10 in total) and nursery slopes, long, sweeping blues (69 in total) for the cruisers to travel from one side of the resort to the other, some challenging reds (33 in total) to get you warmed up and 18 blacks to challenge the best! The resort is well known for it's huge off-piste areas and it's a haven for snowboarders and off-piste demons to explore - together with the half pipe, boarder cross and snowpark what more could you need?
