Ski School - Les Menuires 2011-2012

ESF (Ecole du Ski Francaise)

The local ESF ski school meeting point is located right next to our chalets in Les Bruyeres or for guests in Le Bettaix in the resort centre at La Croisette.  We operate a minibus service in the morning for beginners to the ESF Ski School from Le Bettaix for guests who book their lessons through us.  Group lessons are provided at all levels with English speaking instructors.  The school employs 200 instructors and provides a wide range of services for both adults and particularly the children.

Group Lessons

Ski – all levels Sunday start

·        Full days means the morning and afternoon sessions; lunch is not included and parents must either collect their children for lunch or arrange separate childcare to cover this period

·        Full day lessons at the reduced price are not available from 12/02/12 until 10/03/12 [during this period full days will be charged at the sum of the am and pm session prices]

·        Times may be subject to change depending on the French school holidays

·        Lessons are subject to a minimum of 6 people enrolling for the class

Snowboarding   to Age 8yrs+

Children’s Village

Sunday start   to  Age 4  to 5 years

The children learn to ski in a safe environment, in the enclosed children’s garden.  There are tests and the end of the week, where the children can get their medals (Piou Piou, Ourson, Flocon & 1st Star), depending on their ability.  Children with the required level will progress to skiing outside the enclosed garden. 

Piou Piou Club

Children aged 3 (skiing)

Piou Piou Club, situated in La Croisette, it is part of the ESF Ski School and is designed to introduce 3 year olds to skiing. Children will do 2 hours of lessons in the morning so that skiing and then have lunch in the centre’s restaurant. The afternoon includes the possibility of a nap, snow shoe walking in the Croisette area, sledging and inside games.  Children are taught by fully qualified instructors in a protected area featuring special equipment including magic carpets, mini to ski tows, a rope tow, structures and welcoming figures to encourage learning.  This course is only available on a full day basis and it is possible to either collect your child at lunchtime or add additional lunchtime care and a meal.

Prosneige Ski and Snowboard School

Prosneige is an independent ski school in Les Menuires with 45 instructors able to offer all levels of lessons every week with a maximum of 10 people per class and a high level of service.  All instructors speak very good English with many instructors also speaking several other languages including Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish and Russian.  Special attention is given to children to provide a secure, fun and friendly atmosphere.  The ski school guarantee to always teach in the child’s native language (from the languages above) and beginners can progress in a safe environment in the private secure “snow garden” equipped with moving carpet.  Children are awarded medals at the end of each week in a medals ceremony held on Friday evening.

Teen Session – Special Groups for Teenagers

Slalom, moguls, off piste, freestyle - Prosneige offer a week of sensation with all the security you need.  For teenagers who want to ski in a fun atmosphere with a group of the same age.

Same prices and time as the children's group lessons.

Private Instructors

“Ski School” in conjunction with ESF

Private instructors are available to provide a whole range of services from taking a private instructor to yourself for an hour, to engaging the services of an instructor for the whole week to work on a dedicated basis with your group.  This gives the maximum flexibility to exploit the instructor perhaps by using him or her for adults in the morning and kids in the afternoon, or for beginners for 2 hours and experts for the remainder of the day!

The instructors we use are from the “Ski School” division of ESF who all speak fluent English and are more accustomed to working with English guests.  These instructors are based in the Bruyeres office of ESF but are also available to meet guests staying in Bettaix at the Croisette meeting point.

The price varies according to high or low season. High season dates are 19th December to 7th January and from 12th February to 10th March.  All other dates are at the low season price.  Lesson times also vary according to the time of the year. Please see the table below for the times available at each stage of the season.

Prosneige Instructors

Instructors are available to teach in many languages and also with any discipline   to ski, snowboard, telemark, free ride, free style, carving, off piste...  Private instructors are also available to provide dedicated instruction to young children who are too young to enter group lessons.  Prices vary according to the size of the group and the length of the lesson and are per lesson.
